Wallaby's Story...
Name: Wallaby
Color: Tan
Breed: Chihuahua and Dachshund Mix
Gender: Male
Age: 3 months
Wallaby is a spunky puppy looking for a responsible forever home. Based on the high interest in cute puppies like Wallaby, we are not introducing him to people same day but are accepting applications and will be calling appropriate homes back. He is available for adoption at Whatcom Humane Society.
Big fan of: Learning manners. Wallaby said he wants to be the best dog he can be and has requested his new family sign him up for positive reward based obedience classes before his adoption can be finalized. This will help him and his new owners to get off on the right foot in his new home. Just because he is a little dog doesn't mean he doesn't need proper training and socialization.
Not a fan of: Being left alone. He likes to be the center of attention!
Dream home: Wallaby would do best in a home with an adult canine playmate that will help teach him some manners and how to be gentle. Wallaby's doggie friend can be big or little, he doesn't mind, but they need to be patient and play gently with him. Any children in his home should be over the age of 8 and have lived with little dogs before. Wallaby wouldn't mind a confident cat in his home that won't tolerate any chasing.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Wallaby, a Bellingham Dachshund/Chihuahua puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund/Chihuahua for sale in Bellingham, or seeking a Dachshund/Chihuahua puppy from a breeder in Bellingham.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Bellingham already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Bellingham breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund/Chihuahua breeders who help with Dachshund/Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Bellingham paves the way for another one to be saved.
