My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jethro is a-maz.... wait for it... zing! Everything you would expect of a one-year-old Chocolate Lab (maybe with a bit of German Shepherd Dog) you get in this boy - brains and a desire to please! We just can't figure out why the folks who owned him didn't come and claim him from the shelter.

Jethro is only around one year old and is around 60 pounds by best guess. He is good (not perfect yet) on lead but really wants to be and will be great with a little more practice. However, he does know sit and stay and he does love to play fetch.

Jethro gets along well with dogs too - from the tiniest five-pound Chihuahua to the larger-than-him German Shepherd Mix at his foster home. He only runs with the large dogs most of the time, however, so no one gets hurt on accident. Keep in mind that Jethro is a "teenager" in dog years and so thinks he's pretty cool and assumes other dogs think he's cool as well. This behavior may be offensive to some dogs. He does well with young children but might unintentionally knock one over with his playfulness. Even our cat likes Jethro. He does great riding in a car, and even took to a crate well, causing us to believe he has been crate trained already.

If you are looking for an all-around great family dog, then look no further, Jethro just might be it! Please go to our website, throwmeabonedogrescue.org, and click on Adoption Process to read about our procedure and to find the link for our adoption application.

All potential adopters are expected to complete an application and provide pictures of their yard, patio, and/or balcony making sure we can see the fence line and/or railing. The application can be completed and submitted from our website - throwmeabonedogrescue.org - and is found under Resources. Applications will be reviewed for approval before setting an appointment to come meet and possibly adopt the dog of interest. In addition, those who live in a rental property are expected to provide proof that they are allowed to have a dog where they live.

Each of our rescued dogs has been de-wormed if necessary, de-flea'd (with topical treatment if old enough, and by medicated bath if too young), spayed/neutered, microchipped, is up to date on shots, and has been fully examined by a veterinarian. In addition, each adopted dog comes with a starter baggie of the food it has been eating, a few treats for training purposes, a rawhide chew, a lead and collar, and a folder containing pertinent records.
