My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Greetings from Chicago English Bulldog Rescue (CEBR FOR SHORT). Don’t be fooled by our name, we cover a large Midwest territory. We are the longest standing Bully rescue around and the only 501c3 charitable bully rescue in town. Become a fan of CEBR on Facebook or join our Meetup Group. Stay connected with cute bulldog pictures, stories and get daily updates on all things bully!

Hey! My name is Nala and I’m a beautiful little lady that is looking for her forever home! I’m just 2 years old and a joy to be around. I am healthy, up to date on vaccines, microchipped and in great health! It is sad that I am in rescue. I have already had 4 homes through no fault of my own! My first owner bought me as a pet for a young child. Bad idea! After several months I was sold on Craig’s List to another family. They had me for a few months and it didn’t work out, so they gave me back (and we think I was not treated so well there as I developed some nervousness after coming back from this home – I blocked it out!). Then I headed to a family members’ house of the original owner and they ended up having more and more babies and didn’t have time and room for me, so I ended up back at my original home….and now I am in CEBR’s foster care. So 5 moves in just 2 years. That is SO not fair to a girl like me! But I am a trooper despite all of this chaos in my life.

I love to play with bones and pull on tugs. I am very vocal when I play so please don’t get alarmed…it’s just my way of talking and having fun. My foster dad pulls toys and chews out of my mouth no problems. I think that my prior owners didn’t realize I was just playing with my vocal sounds. I am sometimes playful, sometimes quiet – but CEBR thinks once I am settled into my home and realize I won’t be moving again, I will really start to blossom.

I am so used to being around kids and am very gentle with them. I can’t say that about many of my bully counterparts, but I sure am. I would do fine in a home with children over 8 (CEBR rules state no kids under 8). However I would like to live in a home without other pets. I was great with other dogs when I was younger, but after all of these moves, we can’t be certain how I’d do. CEBR would like to see me go to a home where I am the only and then have that family work with me and trainer to reintroduce me to other pets. I was good in the past and know I can be again….I just need time and retraining!

As for my personality, it’s perfect….but I might be biased! I am playful yet reserved. I am typically content with where I am in the house. I’m not much of an explorer but just want to be by your side. I will gently get your attention to play, but I am not bossy about it. I like to climb up on the couch when you aren’t at home and take naps, but I respect your space too.

I am crate trained but don’t really need to be in a crate because I am 100% potty trained and accident free. I don’t chew what I’m not supposed to and am an all-around good girl! At night I slept like a log and don’t wake up until you get up. I sit patiently when you put the food bowl down and wait for your command. See I’m perfect! CEBR say’s I’m as easy a bully girl as they come!

NOTE FROM THE HUMANS

Nala’s adoption fee is $600. Our adoption criteria for Nala are as follows:
  • CEBR Adoption Radius Only.
  • A home FOREVER. She should NEVER be moved ever, ever again. Commitment for her life is essential.
  • An only-dog home where the adopter will work with her slowly on reintroducing her to other dogs – a training class would be great.
  • She would love to be around older kids – she is very gentle with them.
