My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Arrival story:
Sophie is being surrendered by her owners because they are not home enough to give her the time and attention she needs to be a happy dog.

Approximate age and weight: Almost 3 years old, 70 pounds

Personality: Sophie is very sweet and loving. She loves children and other dogs. She does not jump so she would do well with toddlers. She likes to play fetch and tag and is a higher energy dog. She also loves the water and enjoys visiting a lake or sitting in a doggy pool. She walks on a leash and will sit. She loves to be petted and cuddled with on the floor. She knows how to stay off furniture but will sit in your lap if you let her.

Forever home: An active person or family with a fenced yard and another active or playful dog would be best for Sophie. Since she loves children and does not jump, she would be good for a family with younger children.

Sophie takes Phenobarbital because she has had seizures. The good news is, like people, dogs can live a very normal life even with seizures and the medication to control them is not expensive.

Waggin' Tails Adoption Information: Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue has a standard adoption fee of $175, $275 for small breed dogs or $200 for puppies plus a $50 deposit which is returned upon proof of spay/neuter at six months of age. Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference checks, and a home visit.

We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To view our dogs, please check
www.waggintailsdogrescue.org for the dates of our next adoption events. With few exceptions, we show our adoptable animals on Saturdays from 12pm - 3pm at Petsmart in Northville (on Six Mile & Haggerty) or PetSmart in Canton (the northwest corner of Ford Rd and Haggerty Rd). Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted (the application does not imply an obligation by the applicant or by the rescue group).

Please be kind to our volunteers who have made rescue a second job that they do in their spare time after coming home from full-time jobs. E-mail inquiries will be answered much more quickly than phone inquiries; our phone number is a voice mailbox only.

Thank you for your support of rescue and your interest in a rescue dog!
