My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space...then they become a bit shy as if the world is a tentative place. With love and assurance..they quickly come back overflowing with puppy love and opportunity. We're so grateful for the efforts of the great Houston rescuers in saving Deena...they could see that her temperament was basically so loving and open that they couldn't allow her to be euthanized. Deena was immediately brought to be vetted and temperament tested...she passed both and was brought to a great Texas foster home to begin her education around house manners and socialization. It turns out that Deena, at only 6 months old, is so cooperative, yet a bit unsure, that it's been a fun & rewarding experience for her foster mom to watch her blossom. She's like a blank slate...open and curious about the possibilities. If Deena continues her regiment of time with loving humans and classes that promote positive relationships with other dogs and bonding with her people...Deena will become a well-adjusted and extremely pleasant adult companion. Deena is a gorgeous puppy with a shining coat that speaks of youth and good health. Her demeanor is just who she is...she appears to be just a bit more analytical than your average crazy puppy. If you pass Deena's test that you love her enough..she is your very best friend and is very interested in some serious bonding. If Deena is treated kindly (treats and belly rubs always help) with clear behavioral guidelines, she will become a well-adjusted pup who respects her people as her leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for Deena. She currently weighs 12 lbs (we anticipate her to weigh approximately 16 lbs when full-grown.) and therefore is portable and low-maintenance enough to take along on long walks and fun adventures. We feel it's very important that Deena is provided with exercise and mental stimulation to develop into a well-adjusted companion. She will be a perfect size to enjoy hiking and adventures in the Colorado mountains. We'd also like a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy companion in their activities. Deena can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community and can therefore accompany her family just about anywhere. Deena appears to a be a non-shedding girl (she is a mix of 2 non-shedding breeds according to the shelter vets). She will therefore require periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep her coat (with the gorgeous markings) silky-soft and matt-free.
Deena will be arriving on transport in Denver on 4/11. Applications are currently being accepted for this adorable and very lovable companion.
