My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

this sweet girl was surrendered to our rescue.. this is from the owner...

rescued an adorable shaggy terrier she looks like a yorkie/cairn mix I’m really sad to report that I won’t be able to keep this adorable little girl because I just received notice that I have to move for my job, and I won’t have the same easy hours or the same kind of pet-friendly home. I wish I could just get a different job, but I don’t have that luxury. I would be able to foster her in my apartment here in Houston until she is adopted. I don’t think that she will be waiting for a forever home for long. She is super cute and friendly and healthy. She completed heartworm treatment successfully and without incident back in January. She is housebroken and she will sit when she sees her leash and collar. She walks well on a leash and doesn’t pull. She likes her little doggy bed and sleeps on it at night. She is very friendly and outgoing towards strangers and doesn’t jump or bark at anyone. She is 2 years old and 27 lbs She likes to play with a rope toy and look out the window. When I am gone I leave her in the bathroom with her bed, and she has never gone to the bathroom in the house. She doesn’t bark or cry when I leave her.
she seems like she would be very adaptive in new situations. She isn’t a timid or anxious or aggressive dog. She is very content on her new little mat and whenever I move it she knows that it is her little nest and she will sprawl on it and nap or play with a little rope toy or munch a bone. I haven’t had to put her in a cage or anything since she is good at night and sleeps on the mat and doesn’t even wake me up until I get up! Oh, I’ve also fed her some kibble by hand and she takes everything very gently and sweetly. She is not food aggressive towards me if I walk by her while she eats. She doesn’t ever growl or anything when I set down her bowl of kibble. She eats it all at once (she isn’t a “grazer,” she eats her breakfast up and later her dinner up and that’s that!) I have been feeding her blue buffalo lean longevity kibble without any byproducts. She didn’t have a regular diet at the shelter because they feed them donated food. I was really lucky that she didn’t get any stomach upset with the new diet here :)
She isn’t yappy or anything. My apartment is quiet. But even if there is someone in the hall, she is not the type to bark at every sound. She also doesn’t have fears of men. My boyfriend came to visit and she was very loving towards him. She was very sweet to the maintenance workers who were doing yard work on the property yesterday. She let them pet her with work gloves! So she is not afraid of sounds or big machines or bulky clothing. She wasn’t scared of the large lawn mower noise or of the trash compactor noises on our walk around the property. She wags her tail and is happy. She is always on a leash at all times on walks. I don’t take her to dog parks and I don’t ever let her loose unless she is inside of my personal apartment. I have it dog-proofed in here. There isn’t anything for her to get ahold of–and I keep my bedroom door closed at night to limit where she can go while I sleep–but she stays asleep on that mat and doesn’t seem to wake up until I do! If she does, she is so quiet that she doesn’t wake me and somehow is on her mat asleep when I find her in the morning! My alarm clock doesn’t even seem to scare her! She is happy to stretch and patiently waits for me to get up and pour her breakfast and get her leash.
When I’m gone I leave her in my large bathroom with her nest and some water. She seems to nap the whole time I am gone (never longer than 5 hours) and loves a walk when I get her leash right away upon returning home (never any accidents).
Also, she isn’t a “licker”–I don’t know if she doesn’t know how to give kisses, but I know some people don’t like dogs to lick them. So she doesn’t lick or anything like that, which may be a plus to some, depending on what they like. She likes a tummy rub :)
When she plays, she likes to put her toy in her mouth and roll around on her back! She doesn’t fetch or play tugs with a person, but if she is feeling playful, she will run after a toy and play with it on her own and throw it into the air on her own and chase it. If you throw it initially or get her excited about the toy, it is funny to watch her play for several minutes on her own!!! She loves rolling around on her back with the toy in her mouth and holds it in between her front legs. She is hilarious to watch
