My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET COLE:

At 2.5 years old, our little 15 lb, long hair (non-shedding) dachshund, COLE is still just a puppy at heart with lots of 'puppy love' and energy to share. Here is what he has to say for himself - put into rhyme for your enjoyment:

I have a cute, kissable nose and a happy wagging tail;
I love to cuddle and I will bark when there is mail;
I love to play, so the world on the floor is my toy;
If you love me back, I will fill your heart with joy.

Not only is he a little poet, but our little COLE does well with kids, other doxies AND is even friendly to cats. What more could you ask for in a little dog? Well, like other doxies, he loves to play outside, relax in the sunshine and do his own thing...except when he wants to be with his forever family...like now. He is looking for a family to love and cherish and play with. Are you that family?

NOTE FROM ODR, INC.:
Like many of our doxies, COLE has experienced a rough start to his life. He does well with other pets and children, yet he needs a lot of attention and positive reinforcement training for himself. He is learning to walk on a leash, responds to basic commands and uses a doggie door. He is a young adult, but still has some puppy habits, some barking when he is anxious, but a citronella collar seems to help reduce this quite a bit, so he needs a family with time, love and patience to teach him and make sure his needs are met. COLE is very active and needs and deserves an equally active, doxie savvy family that can spend whatever time is necessary to help him know that he is loved and treasured for the special doggie he is. We can tell you that you will receive far more in return from him.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:
All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give COLE a happy, carefree life again? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net - the adoption committee will be in touch with you within 48 hours so please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
