Sophie's Story...
Sophie is a 14 month old Maltese/ShihTzu. Sophie was kept in a cage for her first 6 months of life. A woman rescued her from this situation but her land lord decided that she could not have a dog so she contacted us. Sophie is ADORABLE and all she wants in life is to be a lap dog. She is a little hesitant around men at first (a man is who kept her in the cage) but eventually warms up. Sophie still is very puppy like and loves to play. If you are interested in adopting this cutie, please fill out our online application: http://www.theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/
Adoption fee: $250

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sophie, a San Diego Maltese/Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maltese/Shih Tzu for sale in San Diego, or seeking a Maltese/Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in San Diego.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in San Diego already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a San Diego breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maltese/Shih Tzu breeders who help with Maltese/Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in San Diego paves the way for another one to be saved.
