Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Scrappy is a sweet and affectionate, two-year-old, 12-pound, male, Maltese-mix with warm brown eyes looking for a loving guardian. He’s being professionally groomed today, so he’ll be a little less scrappy and a lot more handsome soon!
Scrappy was found running stray in Chicago. The family that rescued him tried to keep him. However, their landlord is not a pet-lover and they were served with an eviction notice. Since they didn’t want to leave their home, they had to give up their canine pal.
Scrappy is a nice boy who just loves to be loved and sleep in bed with his family. He lets you pick him up and kiss him. He doesn’t know any formal commands yet, but he takes treats gently from your fingers and happily dances. He gets along okay with other dogs, after a patient and sometimes growly little introduction. He loves his long walks and rides well in the car. While he’s generally an easy-going guy, he would probably do best with older children. I noticed that when a little boy at the vet’s office was swinging his feet off a bench, Scrappy thought he was trying to kick him. So, he may have been treated badly by children as a pup.
Scrappy is non-destructive in the home. He is accustomed to being walked three or four times a day. When his people went out, they would leave a pee pad for him. He can also be crated.
Scrappy is very healthy, neutered, micro-chipped, up-to-date on rabies and distemper vaccines, fecal and heartworm-tested. To meet and possibly adopt Scrappy, please contact his foster mom Sheri at sheri@petraits.com or 773-777-2891. His adoption fee of $250 benefits rescued dogs. He is being fostered in the Andersonville neighborhood of Chicago.
