Katie's Story...
Meet KATIE! This senior girl was returned to DHA two years ago because her owners did not have any more time for her. She was adopted in 2014 again, but recently returned once again to DHA after her owner passed away. Originally from New Orleans, she is a sweet southern lady who's been in and out of homes at no fault of her own. Having been with multiple families and lifestyles, please understand that it may take a little longer for her to get adjusted and trust new things. She still loves meeting new people, but would prefer an older, easy-going crowd. Now that she's gotten older since being adopted originally, she would very much love an easy-going, true FOREVER home! Won't you come be her absolute perfect match she can spend the rest of her life with?

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Katie, a Wilmington Chihuahua/Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua/Dachshund for sale in Wilmington, or seeking a Chihuahua/Dachshund dog from a breeder in Wilmington.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Wilmington already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Wilmington breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua/Dachshund breeders who help with Chihuahua/Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Wilmington paves the way for another one to be saved.
