My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET RODGER THAT!:

Remember playing with walkie talkies (hand held radios) when you were young, pretending you were a pilot or a soldier and saying fun pilot/soldier things like: Do you read me, Over? and Rodger That? Well, around the shelter at Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc., we use the term Rodger That quite a bit. Funny things is that every time we use that term around this adorable little fella, he looks at us with smile, so RODGER THAT! has become his name. As you can imagine, with a name like RODGER THAT! this little guy is smart, sweet and will be a great communicator has he grows up. RODGER THAT! is an adorable 21 week old puppy and currently weighs 5 lbs, though his photos and his personality make him seem a little larger. RODGER THAT! is active at home and in his community. He loves playing with his foster brothers and also volunteers at a local nursing home. So...how about it? Over. Are you interested in becoming RODGER THAT'!s forever family and aiding him in developing his communication skills, Over? (walkie talkies are optional, of course.)

NOTE FROM ODR, INC:

RODGER THAT! is currently too young to neuter, so his forever family will need to agree to have him neutered when he is 5.5 months. Also, we've started his puppy shots (4/8 so far) and those will need to be completed. He was found in a abandoned warehouse and surrendered to Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc so RODGER THAT! is a little timid and shy at the moment, but with the smile and tail wagging that happens when he hears his name, we don't expect that shyness to last long .

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give RODGER THAT! a happy, carefree life? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net - the adoption committee will be in touch with you within 48 hours so please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
