My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Fatt Boy is a one year old mixed breed dog. The shelter we rescued him from guessed Boxer/Lab mix. He may also have a little bit of Pit Bull and/or Shar Pei in him. Again, it is all a guess. He is tan and has a blue tint to his muzzle. He has the cutest eyes and is always very happy to see his people. Fatt Boy is completely house and crate trained. He gets along just fine with the resident cat and dogs in his foster home. He is learning how to walk nicely on a leash. We go for walks in a local park so he is getting used to bikes, skateboards, runners and other people with their dogs walking by him. Fatt Boy was part of a cruelty case; his owners moved and left him alone at the house until he was found by Animal Control. Fatt Boy is a big happy guy that is ready to find a home that will treat like the champ that he is.

****His adoption fee is $295.****

The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed.

All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws.

Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $25 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization.

The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.
