My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

** Eligible for Senior Discount **

Darwin is a 15 lb. Mini Schnauzer, silver and black, and approximately 8 years old. His teeth have been cleaned and the bad ones removed. His ears were very impacted with dirt and foxtails and were infected, but we had them cleaned under anesthesia during his neuter and they are clean and healthy now.

Darwin is a senior with some weakness in his legs, but he has improved a lot since rescue and gets around well. We suspect he had some rough treatment in the past and it may have caused his back or neck to have a disc injury. He drags his front paws when he gets tired which will cause them to become bloody if he is on rough pavement without shoes or protection, but when he runs he does not drag them.

Otherwise, he is a perfect sweet and loving little guy. He has bonded with his foster mom and he 'talks to her' when he wants something or is unhappy about something... like his dinner is late. (Smiles). He would make a great dog for a senior who does not want to 'walk' their dog more than a very short distance. He does not jump up on the couch on his own, you have to gently lift him up, but he can jump down. His strength is improving a lot in his foster home. He just gets better and better as his confidence grows. He is crate trained for nightly sleeping but would rather roam free. He is potty trained to go in one spot outside which is helpful, and uses a dog door or just sits by the door to be let out.

Darwin is a wonderful dog who is easy to care for. Like all schnauzers, he is very loyal and forms a strong bond with his people. He is looking forward to a permanent home with someone who can spend the daytime hours with him, give him the attention and routine he has lacked in the past, and to care for him in his remaining years (small dogs like Darwin can live up to 20 years, so he's got a lot of good years left). I hope that is you...

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, vet checked, current on vaccinations, microchipped, groomed, de-wormed, de-flea'd, and come with a collar, leash, ID tag, and puppy kisses from the lucky dog you take home!
