My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Charlie, a long haired Chihuahua. He was born in July 2013 and weighs a little over 5 lbs. Charlie came to CRT in Jan. this year from a local animal shelter as a stray and had a break in his front left leg. CRT immediately got him in to see an orthopedic surgeon. Surgery was performed in Jan. and was successful with healing. His leg will continue to become stronger in time.
Charlie is now 8 months old and still quite the puppy. He’s such a sweet little boy. He loves to play with his foster brothers. We also have one cat here that he tries to play with but the cat doesn’t have much interest in him.
When he is ready to nap he’s such a cuddly little baby. He loves to lie against my chest and lay his head on my shoulder.
Because he is small and fragile he sleeps in his crate at night but loves to be in the bed under the covers very close to me on the occasions that I let him while reading. He is still in training to use the pee pads but is coming along with it quite nicely. When in his crate at bedtime he will make a tiny little whimper in the mornings to tell me he needs to go potty. Bedtime and feeding time are now the only times I crate him, otherwise he’s in an x pen.
Charlie likes to keep his food away from the others. He is fed Blue Buffalo for puppies and should continue for a few more months before switching to adult food.
Charlie loves the outdoors, and is very inquisitive while out there and will require a fenced in yard. He will also require a home without children.
