A smart little lover!

Alex was on the streets in suburbia, and found his way to my yard. Because there is food for any neighborhood cat who comes by, Alex found the food, as cats are want to do. So, for a few days he ate at my house. Then, one evening, I found him in my garage. Hmmm, I thought, what's going on...? Alex let me pet him and I put food out for him. Same thing the next day, but he wasn't looking very good now, and I could see he was limping. I took a chance and scruffed him, and put him in the carrier, and off to the vet he went. Poor Alex, he had a bad abscess on his elbow, and was in obvious pain. The vet cleaned up the abscess, gave him antibiotics, and neutered him, and tested him. Unfortunately, he tested positive for FIV. Poor Alex. So, Alex has spent a bit of time here with me to recover. Now, fully recovered, he needed a bit more socialization as it turns out. He would "turbo-lounge" on a chest in the hallway, and when I would walk by, he would grab me, as though to say, "you're not getting away that easy!" He clearly wanted to be petted, but would end up scratching me, or biting me (not hard!) to insist he got my attention, which he did! I would tell him, "No, Alex," and would keep petting him. Soon, he understood he didn't need to be so aggressive, and over time, he has grabbed and bitten less, just with my saying, "No, Alex!" He's a smart kitty, who very much wants to be loved, and he is a lover, who responds with a big purr when he gets the attention he wants and needs. He's not needy, just assertive now. What a guy! Alex would probably benefit from an experienced cat person who understands "cat language," is patient and consistent in letting him know what is and is not appropriate. He's a real cutie-pie, and wants to do the right thing. Could you be the one to teach him what's right and what's wrong...? You won't regret it, as Alex definitely has a lot of love to give. He has done very well around other cats, but could most definitely be happy in the role of "onliest boy!" Alex should be indoors only, and must have the best of care, but is very healthy, and will be your best bud for life!

About Feral Cat Foundation

About Our Rescue Group...

The Feral Cat Foundation (FCF) is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization whose primary mission is to help people live with the feral and forgotten cats and kittens in the communities of Alameda and Contra Costa counties of northern California. We accomplish this through the nationally-recognized and effective method of "TNR" (trap-neuter-return). When possible, tame cats and kittens are adopted to loving homes. Cats that cannot be socialized are returned to the location where they were trapped and fed daily by caring volunteers. The lack of resources and a sanctuary prevent FCF from being able to take owner surrenders, rescue cats from shelters, or remove cats from neighborhoods.
