My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Breed: Coonhound/Pointer MIx
Age: 5-6 years
Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Yes
Good with kids: Yes
Energy Level: Low

Meet Ginger. Isn't she a beauty? Here is what the foster family has to say about Ginger: Ginger is great with kids, cats, and dogs. She is a joy at home- house trained and low energy, but her favorite thing is to play with other dogs at the dog park. She also loves her puppy fur brother, to play ball outside and swim in the lake. You will notice that she has an old injury in her front leg, but she has been x-rayed and vet checked. This old injury does not inhibit her at all, she just has a little swagger when she walks! She is a big cuddle bug that loves lounging and her dog bed. She has no food aggression whatsoever. The kids (both under age 6) lay on her, cuddle her, tug her ears and tail and she is a saint! She is the ideal family dog. She just wants to be loved and stay near her persons. She is fine home alone and loves her chew toys. She doesn't know any commands yet, but we are working on sitting. She is a very well mannered girl. She is also good in the car and has gone on two family vacations and road trips. We love her so much that we wish we could keep her, but would love to see her make another family just as happy as she makes us! If you can give her a loving forever home, please fill out an adoption application today.

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:

Thorough veterinary examination

All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming

Spay/Neuter

All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.

If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)

NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
