My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Heidi is a Schnauzer/Cairn Terrier mix. She is 5 years old and weighs about 30 lbs. She has not had a great start in life. She came from a hoarder and did not know what it was like to sleep in a warm bed or have a hug. We feel she has never been touched. When it was brought to the CCR attention we took 6 of them. The dogs were scared to death and biting. We removed them from all they ever knew…an outside pen. Heidi came home with me and lived under my end table for 2 weeks. She would come out at night when we were in bed. She would eat and potty. I put puppy pads down and she started using them, now she will tell you when she needs to go outside. Today she is still very shy but loves to be hugged and told how pretty she is. She is good with other dogs, but I don’t think she knows how to play yet. She will learn. She sleeps at the foot of my bed and sleeps so well that she has a small contented snore. It’s amazing what love can do to change a scared dog. She does know how to walk on a leash and since the outside world is still new to her, she would prefer to ride in a crate when in a car. This too will change with more reassurance that the world is not all bad. Heidi went to an adoption day and did well for her first time out. She was not happy with kids and growled at them, so for now Heidi will not need to be in a home with kids. We are sure that in time she will come around to that as well but with patience and easy introductions to make that happen. Heidi is looking for someone that will continue to be understanding and structured with her as all this is so very new to her. I think she will be a great addition to someone’s home that has the time to give her to adjust. ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED. CONTACT US AT 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.com
