My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I go by pops affectionately named for my grey whiskers, but don’t let them fool you, I’m still a bit sparky! I have a pretty crazy story, you see I’m originally here from Louisiana. I was dropped off at the shelter down there for one reason or another and unfortunately at that shelter really cute adoptable dogs don’t always make it out, so even though I’m sweet these grey whiskers of mine gave me absolutely no chance at finding a home again. My next stop was euthanasia at the shelter.

Thankfully, a volunteer down there fell head over heels with me and the day my time was up she broke me free of that shelter and paid all herself to board me at an animal hospital until she could find someone to listen to my story and help. She got in touch with ESP. ESP volunteers met the my rescuer in Atlanta and drove me all the way back here.

So now I’m still looking for my forever home but thankfully, I’m out of immediate danger. I’m a very affectionate and easy going guy looking for the same in my next adopters. I get along with most dogs, but I can understandably get a little snappy if a dog wants to jump all over me. All I want is to someone to realize what a sweet boy I am and give me one chance to prove it. I want nothing more than a loving family.

I am heartworm positive, but the injectable treatment may be too much for me, so I need to be on Heartworm Preventative once a month. This is called a slow-kill method and effectively treats and cures heartworm in two years.

The Empty Shelter Project operates as a foster-based animal rescue. We do not have an actual facility for viewing dogs but potential adopters are welcome to meet dogs at our adoption events at PetValu every Sunday from 11-3. If you see a specific pet you would like to meet, please contact us in advance to make sure they will be at the event. PetValu is located at 10079 Market Circle Dr, Manassas VA 20110.
