Hilda is a one-and-a-half-year-old, 11.4 lb. Terrier/Dachshund mix rescued from the Devore Animal Shelter. She is a sweet, loving and affectionate, happy-go-lucky little dog who just wants to love you and be appreciated in return. She tends to respond well to a gentle touch, as well as praise and positive reinforcement. She loves to play and hang out with people as well as with other dogs. She is very easy going. She is a quiet dog who can be semi-active and also, be totally chill on a pet bed while you work at the computer. She is learning to play ball and enjoys going on walks (using a small harness). She is potty-trained; however, potty reinforcement is needed in any new environment. She is also crate-trained. She sleeps in her crate every night and can be crated when you need to leave the house, if necessary. Though Hilda is now at the rescue’s main location, she has been in one of the rescue’s foster homes where there were two cats.

Hilda is still a young dog, and she is also somewhat submissive, so she does occasionally have some submissive urination, but this has definitely improved during the short time that she has lived at the rescue. She seems to do best in a quieter household, and also, where there are other dogs around whereby she can follow their lead. Somewhere in Hilda’s past, she got it in her head that when she is beckoned, or, if you go over to her to pick her up, she is in trouble. But she now readily approaches you with tail wagging and loving kisses, and we can share our strategies with Hilda. The good news is, most all dogs will grow out of it as adjustment and maturity set in. Training is especially helpful because learning new tasks, getting them right, and being praised for it truly helps to build a dog’s sense of security and self-esteem. We think Hilda is a true sweetheart who is ready to love and lavish with kisses that special someone who will be kind and gentle, somewhat patient with her, and help build her confidence!

Hilda is spayed, de-wormed, vaccinated including rabies, fully vetted, and micro-chipped.
