I am already spayed, housetrained, purebred, up to date with shots, good with dogs, and good with cats.
A peony is a showy flower with many beautiful petals. Our Peony is a 7 yr. old Pug with many beautiful qualities. She came into rescue because her daddy passed away. His daughter took Peony in, but then started her own family. Everything was fine until the infant became a toddler - on the loose he thought Peony to be just another stuffed toy and would grab her, step on her, and fall on her. Finally Peony had enough and snapped at him. So, with another baby due, the owner thought it best for Peony to be re-homed.
Peony is quick to form attachments. And her loyalty is boundless. She just loves to be loved - happy to either lie by your feet or in your lap watching tv. And she's a wonderful "bed dog" - she settles down immediately and doesn't move all night (and, for a Pug, she's very, very quiet!). Is she perfect? Of course not. One quirk is that she has twinges of jealousy towards other dogs when they also want affection. She will either push them out of the way or give a growl if they come near "her person" while she is there. Peony is also a bit food aggressive - she has never been with other dogs at dinnertime and didn't know how to act. But she is getting better and is beginning to understand that she has her own bowl and the other dogs have theirs. Peony has also had some food allergies in the past so should be on a hyperallergenic diet (no chicken, beef, artificial preservatives, or artificial food coloring) which seems to agree with her.
Because of her bad experiences with a small child, we feel that she shouldn't be adopted to a home with children under the age of 13. Peony is temporarily being fostered near Atlantic City, NJ but will likely be going to another foster home in Liverpool, NY when transport can be arranged if she isn't adopted first. Her asking adoption fee is $200.
