My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

2014-04-01: My name is Sasha V – the V is for Valentine’s Day which is the day that SCLRR rescued me. I am a black female 6 years old and I weigh 93 lbs. I am spayed and up to date with vaccinations. I was rescued from a local shelter after I was found as a stray. The shelter tried to contact my owners but they never came to take me home. I was sad no one came to get me but I am now so happy that I was rescued by SCLRR. It is so awesome to be here, I am having so much fun in my foster home!!!

Few weeks into the foster care my foster dad noticed a lump on one of my back legs. He thought initially that it is a fatty lump but he kept an eye on it and noticed that it almost doubled its size in 2 weeks. Because of that, I was seen by a specialist oncologist where the biopsy revealed that I have a cancerous tumor – mast cell tumor – that needed to be removed as soon as possible. I had surgery at the nice place and my mast cell tumor was excised with clear margins. The tumor was a grade 2 with a low mitotic index of 3. No chemo is necessary. Really GREAT NEWS!!! So I can continue to be a happy go lucky girl!!! I have been a very brave girl during this time and I didn’t cry or whine at all.

I am very trust worthy in the house – when nobody is home I have the full run of the house. I do not have bad habits like chewing, digging, destroying things, etc. I do not go to the bathroom in the house and I am trained to use the doggie door when I need to go out. I have not been tested with cats so I am not sure how I feel about them.

My foster dad wants to add something to my bio: ‘Sasha is one of the best dogs I have ever had the pleasure of being around. She is smart, happy (tail wags the dog), confident, well-behaved and above all a LOVER. If you cannot get enough love, cuddles and kisses you have met your match with Sasha. She won’t demand it, but once you give her the cue, expect as much as you can handle. She has low to medium energy. A 30 minutes jog is about all she can handle. She enjoys our walks and the diversion of lots of interesting smells. You might have to tug on her leash at times to get her back on track. She gets along very well with other dogs, seems to find the little ones more interesting, but people are her FAVORITE. She snores a little, has some arthritis and had one episode of separation anxiety (she barked and cried when I left the house but it was only one time). Now she waits by the door until I come back home. I find all of these minor inconveniences for a dog of this character. Love, cuddles and kisses are the key to Sasha’s placement. All dogs should have the HEART of Sasha!’

It’s my turn again: I would love to go to a home where someone is home most of the day just because I love being around people so much. Because of my size – I am just a big happy girl – I should probably not be placed with very young kids. If you think that I am a good match for your family, please contact your Family Rep. and let them now. A beauty like me will not last for too long!!!
