Lola's fosterer writes...

Lola was found as a stray on the side of the road. A good citizen brought her to the shelter, who immediately noticed she wasn't putting weight on one of her back legs. The shelter sent her to the vet, who discovered she had a completely broken leg. Unfortunately, the shelter did not have the resources to surgically repair the leg and she was scheduled to be euthanized. Luckily, one of our volunteers who likes hounds noticed her and we managed to rescue her just in
time.

She had surgery to repair the leg at the end of February and it has healed up wonderfully. She will need to stay somewhat quiet for 2-3 more months (no dog parks or long runs), but then should be good to go.

Lola is a very sweet, affectionate dog. She loves to give you kisses as soon as you come home and always will be next to you whether you're out in the yard, in the kitchen, or just watching TV. She'll sit right next to you on the couch and get as comfortable as possible, which usually consists of her laying on her back completely stretched out.

Lola didn't have the greatest start in life, but she is hoping for a new family to come take her home and change her luck.

If you are interested in Lola, consider letting us know by filling out a (no obligation) adoption application (https://sites.google.com/pgspcavol/applications).
Lola is NOT expecting to attend the next adoption show, May 10th at the Calverton PetSmart, although there's always a possibility that plans will need to change at the last minute.

We are an all volunteer group and do not operate a shelter. All of our animals are in foster homes. We are unable to place our animals outside of the Baltimore/DC area.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Adopted! Lola, a Bowie Redbone Coonhound/Hound (Unknown Type) puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Redbone Coonhound/Hound (Unknown Type) for sale in Bowie, or seeking a Redbone Coonhound/Hound (Unknown Type) puppy from a breeder in Bowie.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Bowie already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Bowie breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Redbone Coonhound/Hound (Unknown Type) breeders who help with Redbone Coonhound/Hound (Unknown Type) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Bowie paves the way for another one to be saved.
