My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! My name is Grumpy and I am an African Grey that is believed to be about 6 years old. I overheard my foster Mom say I was hormonal; I don’t know what that means, but I used liked staying up late at night, eating only seeds, protecting my territory, and I especially liked to bite my Dad. So when I came to Florida Parrot Rescue my foster Mom had my wings clipped, started putting me to bed early so I sleep 12 hours a night, and is feeding me something called pellets with lots of fresh veggies. I LOVE apples! YUMMY!! I don’t get to eat seeds anymore but it’s OK because I get almonds as a treat when I step up. I’m still a little shy of hands but I do love almonds, so I am getting much better at stepping up. It’s only been a short time on my new schedule but I think I feel better and some even say that now I really should be named CUDDLES!!! My foster Dad spends a lot of time with me because I tend to like the ladies better, so together we are working on socialization. I am now finding out that I like both my foster Mom and Dad! So these foster people really know what they are doing, but I haven’t told them yet…. so shhhhh!!!! I’ve been VERY quiet so far, but I will probably start to vocalize more as I become more comfortable here. I was especially happy the other night so I let my foster Mom turn me over and rub my belly. I even started talking and told her that my name is Grumpy! My foster family thinks with the proper diet, a good nights sleep, exercise, and attention that I am going to be a real charmer! Please come meet me and let’s see if we get along!
