Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Silas is a 2 year old Lab/Boxer/Mastiff mix that was surrendered to Friendship because his owner was having issues with his landlord and ended up abandoning him. Silas was taken in by a neighbor after being abandoned. The previous owner's grandchildren picked on him so much that he is now afraid of small children. Silas likes other dogs but has not had any interaction with cats. He is unsure of men with hats and beards. Silas was described as a grandma's boy according to the family that took him in for awhile. He does not like fast movements. Silas likes to walk on a leash but does not know his own strength. He likes chewing on nylabones and playing tug of war. Don't let his size fool you. Silas is not a very confident dog and would be thrilled to have lots of tender loving care. His stay at the institute will definitely make Silas a more confident dog.
On May 01, 2014, Silas was selected to be one of Friendship's Prison Dogs. He is currently undergoing training at the Grafton Correctional Institute. Silas is being trained in obedience, basic commands, manners and proper leash walking. He will spend approximately 12 weeks at the prison. If you are interested in adopting a prison dog, adoption applications are now being accepted. They can be downloaded at www.friendshipapl.org under ADOPT-FIND A FRIEND. A limited amount of apps will be accepted for each Prison Dog. They must be hand delivered to Friendship. If you have any questions, please contact the shelter at 440-322-4321.
If you put in an adoption application on a prison dog and find another dog before they return, please inform Friendship.
