My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Updated Bio 04/23/2014 Timmy is a 1.4 years old, 8.3 pounds Yorkie boy and is being fostered in Leesburg, FL.

Timmy had his first surgery follow-up exam and x-rays today. He is doing great. The orthopedic surgeon was thrilled with his progress. His surgery is healed and his recovery is progressing perfectly. He still has to be taken out on a leash, but he can now go up and down the few steps to the backyard without being carried.

Everyone at the vet's office could not believe it was the same little dog they saw a month ago. They all said he is just absolutely adorable, a very handsome young boy.

Timmy will go back in 4 weeks for his last follow-up exam and x-rays. After he gets his release he will be able to slowly resume all activity like running and jumping. His dream of chasing those squirrels in the backyard will finally be realized. He wants one so badly.

Timmy's real personality is coming out since he is feeling so good. He loves everyone, He is very playful, though he likes to tear apart his toys so now he only has old toys to play with, but he doesn't mind one bit. He especially enjoys his chew bones. Because he can't run around he does pull on the leash to try to release some of his puppy energy. Once he can run around again, that should calm down quite a bit. Timmy is very happy to sit on his person's lap and cuddle and a belly rub puts him in heaven.

He is mostly house trained and will sometimes even use the potty pad, but he needs to be taken out often to make sure he doesn't have an accident in the house.

Timmy won't be able to go to his forever home until the middle or end of June, but we are taking applications for him. He would love a family with someone home a lot so he can run off his puppy energy. A fenced backyard would be ideal. He would love another dog to play with, and kids older than 12 would be great for this playful guy. Anyone who adopts this precious little pup will be getting the sweetest, happiest little dog.

Updated Bio 3/31/14--Timmy is a 1 year 4 month young adorable Yorkshire terrier. He weights 8 pounds and is being fostered in Leesburg, FL

Timmy is recovering from his intensive surgery. He came through it like a trooper, but his recovery will be long and slow. In order to heal properly he has to be confined to a crate or a puppy pen all day except to be taken out on a leash to do his business. He desperately wants to be out to play with the other dogs and to be with his foster mom and dad. He will bark and whine to let us know that. So he is not a very happy little dog right now, but he will be when he finally heals.

Timmy's recovery will take 8 weeks and then a final month to slowly have him resume his normal activity level. His surgery repaired his right hind leg which was broken and fractured in 4 places. The pain was so bad that he could not put his leg down. Every time he put this foot down it caused pressure on his sciatic nerve and pain shot through him. On his left side his sacroiliac slipped 100% and had to be reattached with a big screw and washer. To add insult to all this, he has to wear a cone on his head to keep him from licking and scratching the surgery staples. Thankfully the stapes will be removed on April 7th and the cone can come off.

Timmy won't be able to go to his forever home until the end of June, but we are taking adoption applications for him. We don't yet know Timmy as well as we will, but we do know he's an energetic puppy. He loves to eat, he is potty trained to a potty pad and the outside, and he likes other dogs and people. It's hard to know the real Timmy while he is being contained, but as we learn more about him, and as he continues to heal we will update his bio and include new pictures.

Thank you so much to everyone who donated to his surgery. We could not have done it without your help. Timmy sends his thanks with all his heart.

INITIAL BIO 03/23/2014: MEET TIMMY! He is a 16 month old 9 lb male yorkie; he is being fostered in Leesburg, FL.

Timmy was hit by a moving vehicle on 03/14 and has a compound fracture of his pelvis which needs to be surgically corrected as soon as possible. Timmy was surrendered by his owner because she was unable to afford the orthopedic surgery he so desperately needs. Timmy will be seen by a surgeon immediately – please say some prayers for this little boy. We don’t know at this time what the surgery will cost, but it will be very expensive. Please consider donating to Timmy’s vetting so that he can go on to enjoy a pain-free life.
