Shandra & Rambo's Story...
2/19/08.. Rambo & Shandra are doing very well! They both have good appetites & have not coughed once since they've been on antibotics for pneumonia.
They get along well with their two foster sister. Rambo is a big mush. He loves to shower you with kisses & has a very calm demeanor. Shandra is a sweet baby girl who loves to be with you every second.Shandra does get a little anxious around her 2 foster sisters when they get too close & growls
very faintly. She never shows this side with Rambo. We are steadliy watching their health & putting some weight on Shandra. Both boxers are a joy to have here & they are so appreciative of everything! They both sit when asked (especially for a cookie). We are working on "Give Paw", but, they end up showering us with kisses instead. Because Shandra and Rambo get along so well, they should be placed together and in a home in a home without other dogs, so they can have your undivided attention.
In about 3 weeks they will start their heart worm treatment! We think they will handle it wonderfully!Contact person Rachel - rachelfoose@comcast.net
2/7/08 NJBR was contacted by the staff at a local shelter with
2 beautiful brindle boxers that were abandoned. We were able to
retrieve them , but had to rush them directly to an animal hospital!
Both Shandra & Rambo caught a horrible kennel cough which turned into pneumonia & tested positive for heartworm & lymes disease. These gentle souls were so sick & just left alone to fend for themselves. It brought
many of us to tears just thinking how these two were abandoned, yet they never abandoned each other. The hospital is doing their best to keep them comfortable until their treatments can begin next week. Right now they are being given IV fluids & getting visits by volunteers to try & keep their spirits up. A foster home where both Shandra & Rambo can be placed is despretley needed. As soon as they are cleared of kennel cough & started on treatments for heartworm & Lymes, they will need someone willing to provide them special care for follow-up visits & monitoring for vessel blockage once the Heartworm meds. start to work. The care you would provide them would be worth every minute! Once you meet them you will realize why they need to be together. They are both around 4 years old. Both are spayed & neutered & are up to date on vaccinations. They have shown no aggression towards people or other dogs. They were so good during the car ride & this whole ordeal. Poor Shandra had to be carried because she was too weak to walk. Rambo looks after her & kisses her face when she is stressed. Their beautiful boxer "mugs" just stare up at you & beg for comfort. Please help them recover in a loving & secure foster home.
We are also asking for any donations toward Rambo & Shandra's care as the expenses will be mounting! Anything would be greatly appreciated!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Shandra & Rambo, a Middlesex Boxer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Boxer for sale in Middlesex, or seeking a Boxer dog from a breeder in Middlesex.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Middlesex already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Middlesex breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Boxer breeders who help with Boxer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Middlesex paves the way for another one to be saved.
