Breed/Age: Joey is a 5 1/2 year old pug / dachshund mix. . He has a low maintenance coat that I only occasionally brush. He has the cutest whiskers and underbite too.
Size: Joey weighs 23 pounds.
Foster Family Observations:
Joey is a playful, gentle, and affectionate little guy. He gets along great with my 55lb. hound mix, and has played & socialized well with all the dogs he’s met since he came to rescue. He’s been very friendly with all the humans he’s met as well. He’s a pretty mellow fellow, and listens to direction well. He is completely potty trained, and is fine about going into his kennel when I leave.
Joey takes his treats gently and loves bully sticks. He doesn’t react to humans or dogs when eating or playing with a toy. He is also an avid squirrel watcher, and will alert you know when he sees one in the yard. He LOVES to fetch the tennis ball and also enjoys a tug of war with his rope. When it’s time to settle down, he loves to curl up next to you.
Joey had his first and only seizure in April of this year. As a precaution he has been put on a medication so that this never happens again. You would NEVER know he had an episode because he is a playful & active boy. When the fun and play is over, he just rolls with the flow and settles down. This medication is very affordable, so don't let cost deter you! He has NOT had any problems since he started the medication in April! This has NOT affected his playful, loving personality!
Joey lost his family of 4 years, through no fault of his own. He was quite sad the first couple of days, but because he just wants to be loved, and is getting that here, he’s moved on. If you’re looking for a friend that requires so little, yet gives so much, fill out an application to meet this wonderful boy!
