Olive's Story...
Olive was an adoptable dog at the Humboldt County Animal Shelter. The shelter environment got to be too much for her so we needed to pull her out. She is a Queensland Heeler mix that is about 2 1/2 yrs. old. She loves people and dogs and does get along real well with cats. It was discovered that Olive does suffer a bit from separation anxiety. She is currently in one of the RPR kennels and we are working on it. Having Holly (shown in the second picture) as a playmate really does help Olive relax. She too is looking for a foster/adoptive home. The foster she had is doing a tour of volunteerism over seas and we need to find her a new place.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Olive, a McKinleyville Blue Heeler dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Blue Heeler for sale in McKinleyville, or seeking a Blue Heeler dog from a breeder in McKinleyville.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in McKinleyville already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a McKinleyville breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Blue Heeler breeders who help with Blue Heeler rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in McKinleyville paves the way for another one to be saved.
