Don't be fooled by Mr. Bashful in these photos. He is just hamming it up for the camera. He doesn't like his picture to be taken. Usually, you would see him off in a proud stance with his tail curled up and over his back. He's a joy to be around. When his foster mom calls out the back door to her fenced-in yard, "Little boooooy. Where's my little boy?" He comes happily prances up the stairs to be greeted with love. When Rhodey was first brought to the shelter, he was covered with mats! We had him shaved down so he would be more comfortable. He has demonstrated that he's a perfect candidate for a life long companion. Don't be deterred by his age! 10 years old for a small pup is still adult-hood! He still has a long of energy and like to run around. He's quite the show-off.

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:
Thorough veterinary examination
All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming
Spay/Neuter
All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.
If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)
NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
