This poor little sweet angel was forced to be surrendered because her elderly owner was going into the nursing him. The owner was crying and begging that she be placed in a home and not put to sleep. Thankfully, the vet she surrendered the dog to took her in and decided to try to find her a home. Without success, they contacted one of our southern volunteers who then contacted us. Ginger Ale is a sweet loving companion and is fully housebroken. She simply enjoys sitting by her human while both enjoy watching television. She isn't a high maintenance dog and only requires food, water and love.

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:
Thorough veterinary examination
All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming
Spay/Neuter
All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.
If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)
NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
