My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Greetings from Chicago English Bulldog Rescue (CEBR FOR SHORT). Don’t be fooled by our name, we cover a large Midwest territory. We are the longest standing Bully rescue around and the only 501c3 charitable bully rescue in town. Become a fan of CEBR on Facebook or join our Meetup Group. Stay connected with cute bulldog pictures, stories and get daily updates on all things bully!

From Heartworms to Heaven. I Did It!

Howdy everyone! Yup it’s me, Boulder. I’m a firm chunk of a boy that’s strong as a big rock. Yep….a boulder! I’ve had quite a journey through CEBR and am happy to report that I am finally healthy and ready to find my forever home. I came to CEBR from a shelter and after a few quick tests, we found out that I was heartworm positive. This made CEBR so sad because this disease is so preventable with just one little pill once a month. Dogs like me shouldn’t have to suffer because humans can’t get their act together! But don’t worry. With CEBR’s help, I am now heartworm free, neutered, microchipped, up to date on all of my vaccines (and preventatives too), and a picture of good health!

Ok. I’m happy to move on and tell you all about myself! I’m about 4 years young (being a stray we don’t know my exact age, but this is darn close) and I am of the most lovable variety of bully dog! Yep, that’s right. I’m a squish pants. A lover. A Romeo!

I’m also very, very athletic. More so than your average bully. No seriously, even though I’m not supposed to, I can jump into an SUV no problem! I jump towards the sky and land paws down in the truck. Of course, I’ll do it even faster and higher for a treat! And if my forever home out there has a yard, I can show you I am as fast as Lighting McQueen! My foster mom says I prance and kick out my back legs when I walk because I am so happy all of the time.

I will always remind you when my eating times are because I will sing for you as I wait for you to prepare my food. I have learned how to sit, lay down, shake, and stay so far…and I’m just getting started people! My foster mom is working on teaching me how to “got to my bed” and then stay there once I do it. I am a super-fast learner and love the attention and all the cookies I get when I listen. I am also pretty good on the potty training front too and only have a slip up every once in a while. (Like once a week – no big deal right?) Right now I am staying with my foster peeps in a condo which is pretty cool since I am the most popular dog in the building and everyone loves and adores me! If you have a yard that is pretty cool too because I can work on my speed training and rub against the trees to scratch my back too. Oh and don’t worry about the squirrels I will make sure there aren’t any in your yard! I can be an equally good city or suburban dog. As long as I am on leash (with a collar and tags always so I never become a stray again), I will be happy!

I foster with 2 other bullies but haven’t had a ton of alone time with them yet since I have been recovering from my heartworm treatments, but CEBR thinks I am going to be just fine with other dogs. I meet other dogs in my building on walks and do great with them. Sometimes my furry foster sisters scare me and try to steal my bones away. So I have to learn to deal with that, but I will.

Thanks for checking me out! See you on the flip side!

NOTE FROM THE HUMANS

Boulder’s adoption fee is $575. Our adoption criteria for Boulder are as follows:
  • CEBR Adoption Radius Only.
  • A family that will give me lots of walks and chances to release my energy – I’m an active dude.
  • A new home that will never, ever, ever, ever forget to give me my heartworm preventative pill. Did I say ever?
  • A city of suburban home are both equally fine. Older kids (teens) would also be fine. Other dogs would be fine too. Just plan on slow introductions.
