My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Banjo is a four year old who came to us the most starved horse we have ever seen. His survival was greatly in question for the first month. Banjo is a 4-5 year old pony who is coming back from 30 days professional training on 12/21/14. He is very willing and very calm! We have lots of videos we are posting on our Facebook page, so click on our page to make sure you see them all (https://www.facebook.com/CrossroadsAnimalRescue). He knows how to walk, trot, canter (his trainer says he has a great canter), back up, cross obstacles and small jumps, cross water, and knows all groundwork basics. He loads great too. He has more "whoa" than "go". He has grown and filled out an amazing amount since then and we expect some continued growth and muscling over the next couple years. Banjo is ready for an intermediate rider or a beginner riding with a trainer's supervision. Banjo is in Seneca, SC and his adoption fee is $1200, somewhat negotiable to the right home. Go to www.crossroadsanimalrescue.org to apply to adopt this sweet boy and give him the forever home he deserves!
Our horses have received their basic vaccinations (Rabies vaccine, EWT combo vaccine) at the time of adoption. They have been dewormed and have a negative Coggins test as well. All horses have received a hoof assessment and trimming. Horses are also microchipped.
If you cannot adopt but would like to help, consider sponsoring a horse by donating through the "sponsor a pet" button. This money will help us provide for this horse and others - even a small donation goes a long way towards helping us save more pets!
We do our best to determine what amount of training they have had and to represent them as accurately as possible. However, we usually do not know the history of our horses, so we determine training by how the horses act after we get them. Please call ahead or email to set up a time to meet our horses if you are interested in adopting. They are at foster homes so we may need up to a couple days notice in order to schedule a time for you to see them.
We desire for our horses to find a good home where the horse will be a good fit with the person adoption him/her. With that goal in mind, we do our best to accurately represent everything, good and bad, with our horses. Since they have received a full vet exam, many times there are health problems recorded here. The vast majority of horses have at least some health issue, though most sellers are unaware if the horse has not recently received a full examination. Therefore keep this in mind if we report a horse has some soreness or lameness issues - our horses are likely not less sound than other horses on this site - we simply examine them and report all concerns.
As part of helping new owners find a horse that is a good fit, we offer several valuable services included as part of the adoption fee on our horses. We offer a 1-2 hour training session with Alexandria Dodgen who trains using natural horsemanship techniques. She will help you learn to handle your new horse in a way that gets your horses listening to and respecting you. She is also available to fully train your new horse, though that is not included with the adoption fee. Our goal is to help you and your new horse have the best start possible and to help you find a horse that will be a great long term fit for you and your family. Offers for training are dependent on you bringing the horse to the trainer's facility (or potentially paying an additional house call fee at your expense). In addition to the training session, CARE also provides one week free boarding until you can pick up your new horse. Adoption fees are negotiable to the right home. For more information, please email us at drkathyjordan@yahoo.com You can see our adoption applications and and more info about our rescue on our website, www.crossroadsanimalrescue.org. To streamline the adoption process, you can fill out the application and attach it to your email inquiring about a horse. You can also call us at 864-972-9994.
