My basic info
Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We have a standard grey male chinchilla looking for his new home. His name is Juju. Juju was born around January 2012 and is about 2.5 years old.
Juju is a sweet, talkative boy. He will talk to you when you reach for him to get him. Juju is a shy chinchilla and does well being given something to hide behind or under. He is most often found behind his wheel or in his hidey house. Juju does fine with being picked up and petted, but he would much rather be out and running around. He’s got energy to spare. Juju does not bite.
Juju is a furchewer. He only recently started fur chewing, right before coming to the rescue, so it is possible this is a result of stress. If that is the case, he could stop furchewing once he gets into his new home and gets settled (though it takes months for the fur to grow back completely). This is typically not a health-related issue, it is cosmetic in nature. It simply looks like all his fur is not the same length. You can see the dark patches on his fur in the one picture – these are the spots where he has chewed his fur down to a shorter length (fur is lighter grey on top and darker grey closer to the skin).
We do not know if Juju gets along with other chinchillas.
As with all of our chinchillas/rescues, Juju will come with 2 pounds of food to start you out (Mazuri pellets), a baggy of chews/treats, and a printed out version of our care packet. He will also come with a lifetime of help and support, should you ever need it. If more supplies are needed, we also sell everything from hammocks to cages and everything in between – anything you could possibly need or want for your new chinchilla.
Regardless of past chinchilla experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our chinchilla care packet and fill out our adoption application/chinchilla questionnaire. If you are unwilling to do this, please do not waste our time or yours. No chinchilla will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.
