My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our BamBam is a stunning dog of impressive stature. This robust, two year old male Bullmastiff was recently surrendered to a high kill Animal Control facility by an owner who was recently deployed to active overseas military duty.

Owner surrendered dogs have a very short timeline before becoming at risk in city shelters because the process of tracking down an owner is eliminated. They are given only 48 hours to relax enough to qualify for adoption, and, if they do, then they likely catch Kennel Cough, which boots them out of the adoption program.

BamBam caught the cold, and was released to us so that we could treat him, and find his forever family. Shelter staff were quite impressed with BamBam's outgoing nature. While he was a bit tense during his medical and behavior evaluation, BamBam showed no sighs of aggression while under duress in an extremely chaotic environment.

BamBam recovered from KC in no time, and has settled into his foster home beautifully. This lover boy is full of personality, and has charmed everyone he has met. He loves his leash walks and thrives in nature. As a former city dweller, BamBam is adapting well to country life. It's a joy to watch him revel in the sights and sounds of nature. Birds seem to fascinate him!

As a Bullmastiff, BamBam is a relatively small dog compared to Breed Standard. He weighs in at 65 pounds of muscle, but could easily get up to 75 to 80 pounds on a healthy weight gaining diet. BamBam is fairly easy to handle, although he pulls a bit on lead. We have successfully trained him on the Herm Sprenger prong collar, so adopters will be able to use this tool to master the walk with BamBam.

This magnificent dog will be a dream come true for an experienced Bully Breed lover, who has the physical strength to command a powerful dog. We'd describe BamBam as a medium plus energy dog, who requires significant daily exercise to remain calm and well behaved. As an owner surrender, BamBam came to us with good house manners and is house trained and crate trained, although we expect our adopters to troubleshoot the inevitable accidents that may occur during his transition to a new routine.

BamBam is in excellent health and has been neutered. He has been vaccinated for rabies and DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo and parainfluenza). He has had the 4snap test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been microchipped and dewormed.
