My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.

If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.
Blossom is an 8 pound, 9 year old purebred bichon who lost her home due to her human’s move into assisted living. She is the youngest 9 year old dog we’ve ever met—she is bouncy and happy and full of vim and vigor. Blossom’s coat is non shedding and she does require professional grooming at least every three months. Blossom would do best in a home with someone who is home a good part of the day and who would enjoy going for walks once or twice a day (on nice days). Blossom does get along with other dogs but would enjoy being an only dog. She chases cats and barks at the chickens in the yard at her foster home. She is probably a bit too vocal for an apartment or condo and would do best in a home with a fenced yard. Blossom is house trained when taken out regularly like most small dogs. She doesn’t seem to mind the cold but doesn’t like the rain so she goes in and out quickly on rainy days. Blossom is crate trained and doesn’t mind being crated while her foster family is gone. She will even go into her open crate for a nap when they are at home. She has never lived with children but likes the 15 year old girl in her foster home. Blossom is with Happy Hound Rescue, a local 501c3 nonprofit all volunteer rescue. She was already spayed but she required a full dental and professional grooming so her adoption fee is $250 which covers only half the cost of this care. She is heartworm negative and on prevention, current on vaccines and has a HomeAgain microchip
