My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tom Thumb is a sweet and gentle little old beagle man whose soft, sparkling eyes tell you how much love he has to offer. Tom came to Midwest BREW with a long list of health problems and has spent some time in his foster home getting fixed up, but now he is ready for adoption to a home that will treat him gently and kindly for the rest of his life.

Tom is 13 years old and was surrendered by an owner who was not able to care for him. Tom is very quiet, charming, and low maintenance and doesn’t ask for anything more than a warm comfy place to rest, and yummy food. Tom gets along well with cats and other dogs, although he mostly keeps to himself and would do fine as an only pet too. He spends his time either laying on a dog bed or following his people from room to room, and he especially loves the warmth of the fireplace. Tom is house trained, although he sometimes has accidents during the work day, so ideally he would be able to go outside every several hours.

Tom is a very tiny beagle, only 17 pounds even after gaining weight in his foster home. When Tom first came to Midwest BREW, he was underweight, had an ear infection, bladder infection, fleas, whipworms, and he badly needed a dental cleaning that included removing ten teeth. He also was diagnosed with fluid in his lungs and an enlarged heart, but this is being treated successfully with two kinds of heart medication that Tom will need to stay on in his new home. Tom has arthritis in his spine, hips, and knees, so he is not able to get up on furniture and can’t really do a full flight of stairs (although he can handle the 4 steps from the deck to the yard at his foster home). He is on a daily dose of Rimadyl that has really made a difference in his activity level, and as you can see in the photos, he does like to get out and about in the sunshine!

Tom is a truly delightful beagle who deserves a life of comfort, love, and better attention to his health than he has had in the past. Please let us know if you have this to offer Tom and are interested in adopting him, if you could sponsor some of his medical bills, or if you have any questions about Tom at all.
