Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Name: Patch
Age: ~7 years old
Breed: Lhasa Apso
Gender: male
Meet Patch!! This boy would like you to think he's a fragile, poor unfortunate soul, but underneath that bedraggled exterior is one sassy, adaptive buddy!
When Patch came to us from animal control, he had a ruptured left eye that needed to be removed ASAP. His recovery process with this eye was difficult, requiring re-suturing and draining, but he's come around the bend and is healing up nicely. His other eye has trouble staying moist so he needs to have daily eye ointment in the one. The good news with this is a) he's only got the one eye to medicate (so it's basically half price!) and b) he is very tolerant of the application which takes less than a second to do. Additionally, Patch came to us with hair loss on his back, and registered just at the low end of normal for his thyroid levels. He is on Soloxine tablets daily to get his hair to grow back. This may not be the same for him, but Patch has a foster brother who was also at the low end of normal and required tablets only temporarily to kickstart hair regrowth, and hasn't had to go back on them. But even if Patch needs thyroid medicine, it isn't an expensive one and he is happy to gobble it up in a small piece of cheese.
Patch gets along with all the dogs in his foster home, and holds the record for being accepted almost without notice by all of the other dogs- and this is WITH a big cone around his head and missing one eye! He hasn't had an accident in the house, sleeps happily in his crate but can be left loose in the house without incident, provided all paper towels and stray paper is out of reach. (He really has a taste for paper, silly man.) Other than his rubbish fetish, he has no bad habits.
Patch is one of those easy to love, easy to have around sorts of dogs who would fit into many different homes. He may be best in a home without very small children, as they might surprise his blind side easily, but would be okay with older kids. Aside from the eye ointment and a tiny pill inside some cheese, he requires very little... but fills the home with laughter and happiness!
