Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Junebug is absolutely adorable!! She is gorgeous, well-behaved, friendly and snuggly! This little doll is approx. 3 yrs old, weighs 24 lbs and is 15" high at the shoulder. She is a classic tri-colored beagle with a beautiful coat.
Junie was turned in to a Houston-area shelter because she had injured her left rear leg and her family was not willing to follow through with repairing it. The shelter called our organization and of course we said "YES, WE WILL TAKE HER!" Thanks to our continuous fund-raising efforts, we were able to get Junebug's knee surgically repaired and then rehabilitated by one of our volunteers that is experienced in orthopedic recoveries.
She is now "good as new" and is an active, happy beagle. Her shaved fur has grown back in, and you would never be able to tell that Junebug had the surgery. She was a very good patient, never showing any signs of distress over her situation. She even left her bandage alone for the 2 weeks that she had to wear it (see photo #4). The vet clinic staff absolutely adored her and were always excited to see her whenever she went in for her regular progress visits. She is now released from any restrictions and is ready to find a family that will always love and care for her as a valued family member, no matter what she might need.
Everyone who comes to Junie's foster home gets special attention from her. She loves to sit next to the humans and snuggle, even if she has just met you! Recently the foster home held a family reunion at their home, and Junebug turned out to be a main attraction!! She seemed to believe that she was in charge of entertaining everyone. (And yes, someone did accidentally leave a bowl of gravy unattended on the table with the chairs not pushed in, so she was able to have a taste of gravy until someone heard the clink of her tags on the bowl! LOL.) After all, she IS a beagle!!
This dog is really a sweetheart. As beagles go, she is a rather good listener and is fairly well self-disciplined. She is house-trained, crate-trained, walks briskly on leash, uses a doggie door, does not chew things, and rarely barks. She loves to go on rides in the car, and her favorite thing of all is the nightly walk through the neighborhood with her foster mom & the senior beagle in the household. Junie's main request for her future owners would be to get to go on a daily walk. She would like to be allowed to sleep on the bed with the humans, too, if that would be OK. She is tolerant of children but prefers adults, so no toddlers please!
