Gwendolyn is a four-year-old female Cattle Dog/German shepherd mix who was rescued from the Devore Animal Shelter, origianally coming from a hoarding situation where she lived among many dogs. She weighs about 50 lbs. Gwendolyn has lived at the rescue’s main location, among several dogs, and currently lives in a foster home with two other large female dogs and a smaller male dog.

Gwendolyn is a stunning dog with a soft disposition. She is gentle, loves her pet beds, and enjoys a good belly rub while giving appreciative licks. Initially, she will be a bit skittish, (which means, taking things on with caution, or sometimes easily startled – the term does NOT equate to aggressive) but will quickly adjust following the lead of another dog or a patient companion. She is good on a leash, but completely happy at home lying next to her master. As she is a lower energy dog, she would not be a good fit for an avid hiker or runner, and she also in not interested in playing chase, or playing ball, or playing with toys. But if you are interested in a calm and gentle companion and a dog that will take easy and enjoyable walks, then Gwendolyn may be your girl. Completely dog friendly and human friendly, Gwendolyn would not jump up on the elderly or on children. But speaking of children, Gwendolyn seeks a quiet, calm home.

Gwendolyn is fully potty-trained (however potty reinforcement is needed in any new environment) and non-destructive in the house. One would be able to leave her alone and return unworried (just don't leave tempting food out in easily reachable places) either in a large, secured crate, or loose, but she MUST be an inside dog (Gwendolyn hates being outside – and, she is a great house dog). Gwendolyn loves nothing more than to just sit with you all day on her favorite pet bed, in the same room as you are working in. Her security if you are not home is being inside on her favorite bed and she will not move. She is an incredibly easy dog to love and have in your home, once she adjusts to the new environment. Gwendolyn’s best fit is either with any other dog, large, small, male, female to keep her company, as long as that dog is nice to her and welcoming, or, as an only dog whereby one is not gone for extended hours daily.

Gwendolyn is spayed, de-wormed, vaccinated including rabies, and micro-chipped.
