My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Fiona is proof of how resilient cats can be. She is a beautiful calico girl with really unique markings. She is very petite and will be a small cat, though we think she is only a year old and still has a bit of growing to do. While she looks beautiful and is as sweet a girl as you'll meet, her story shows how ugly people can be.

Fiona and her three kittens were left at the city pound by her so-called family. She had a rubber band wrapped around her hind leg. Not only was the rubber band wrapped tight, but it had been around her leg for so long that her leg had grown very injured and infected. The leg wasn't saveable, unfortunately, and so it had to be amputated. Fiona did great through surgery, woke up, and was immediately nursing and caring for her babies again. She is already walking around easily on three legs and is healing beautifully. While she will not be as fast as four-legged kitties, being a tripod should not keep her from having a great life.

Fiona would do well adopted by herself, into a home with another social kitty, or together with one of her babies (her babies are the cutest!). She does NOT like dogs. She will be ready for adoption in about three weeks once her babies are weaned. We are accepting applications for her now, though.

Fiona's adoption fee of $95 includes her spay, deworming, general exams, FIV and FeLV virus testing (all negative!), age-appropriate shots, and microchip and registration. The cost of these services is way, way more if you were to try to give proper medical care at the vet.

Our rescue group is foster based, meaning kitties live in homes with volunteers. This is great for the cats, because they get a ton of socialization and attention, and we get to know them well, but it also means we don't have a shelter for people to drop by and visit. Instead, we ask that people complete applications, and then we can arrange meet and greets with the kitties.
