Howdy's Info...

I am already neutered, a special needs pet, up to date with shots, declawed, good with kids, and good with cats.

Howdy's Story...
Howdy is a Maine Coone mix, huge, fluffy and laid back. The kind of cat you can just plop in a room of other cats with no introduction. Very self-assured.

Howdy is a senior cat who was living outdoors all by himself. He had a human at some point since he is neutered, microchipped and declawed. Unfortunately, we have been unable to locate the people through the microchip.

Howdy has diffuse Iris Melanoma, a very noninvasive and slow-progressing cancer of the eye. Usually it takes 10 years to progress. Even then, it rarely metasthesizes, so the worst that happens is that the cat may have to have his eye removed. The eye specialist does NOT recommend removing Howdy's eye at this time. In fact, he can still see out of it. Howdy also limps as a result of his past declaw. Poor guy.

Howdy is available as a regular adoption. Please also ask about our "permanent foster" and "Senior for Senior" programs, through which we would pay Howdy's vet bills for life but he would be your cat and live with you. These programs are wonderful opportunities for people on fixed incomes to enjoy th love of a cat like Howdy.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Howdy, a St. Louis Maine Coon cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maine Coon for sale in St. Louis, or seeking a Maine Coon cat from a breeder in St. Louis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St. Louis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St. Louis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maine Coon breeders who help with Maine Coon rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St. Louis paves the way for another one to be saved.
