My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I am a female Dachshund mix puppy. I weigh about 3 pounds right now, but I definitely have some growing to do. My 10 siblings and I are just about 6 weeks old. Yes, I said 10 siblings! Can you believe that?!?! Our mommy was huge! You should have seen her. Our human friends here at the rescue, were at a local high-kill shelter to promote adoption and they just happened to see our mom in one of the runs. The moment they laid eyes on her they decided she would be the next CageFree resident. They could tell that she was pretty far along in her pregnancy and knew that if they left her at the shelter the staff doctors would abort us. They just couldn't allow that to happen to puppies that were almost fully developed. So Momma went home with them. They had her checked out by their private vet and the doctor said that she would likely have 5-7 puppies, probably within a week or two. As time went by, and the 2 week mark passed, they began to worry that something was wrong. Our momma had to go back for a recheck and this time the doctor was able to hear our heartbeats. He said that she might have as many as 9 puppies. Just a few days later all 11 of us popped out! Boy, was everyone surprised. Thankfully, all of us came out happy and healthy. We were all able to nurse and over the next several weeks we gained tons of weight, and our eyes and ears opened. That's when things got fun! We began to waddle around and explore the world. It was AMAZING! Not so much for our momma, but we were having fun. We had lots of visitors that showered us with attention and have helped us to become very social little pups. Recently we were introduced to solid food, and we love it! After a meal, we all look like chubby seals. Now that we are fully weaned, Momma is able to go to her forever home. We miss her a lot, but we all are so excited to start our new lives in our own forever homes. At this point, we all have pretty similar personalities. We love to do typical puppy stuff. Playing with toys, chewing on things, roughhousing with each other, and of course eating and sleeping a ton. We all happen to be completely adorable in our own way, though. Most of us look different from one another. Some of us have more course hair, some smooth, there are even a few of us with longer, curly hair. Since our mom is a Dachshund mix, several of us have the stumpiest legs you've ever seen. And, a few of us are super tall! Daddy might be responsible for that. Only a DNA test could tell you exactly what we are. Our human friends tell us that we are definitely mutts to the nth degree. Whatever we are though, we are the cutest little balls of fun. If you think that you would be interested in adopting me, or any of my other siblings, please don't hesitate to contact CageFree. We'll be ready to go in just a couple of days and I'm positive we won't last long!
