My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

2014-05-05: Hello Families! My name is Detour and I’m a 4 month old, 20 lb purebred Labrador PUP! I was picked up as a stray and turned into SCLRR by a Good Samaritan. I am a healthy, strapping Labrador pup. My foster mom thinks I’ll top out at 60 lbs— however, you never know with paws like mine. I’m learning new things everyday. I practice my sit and down daily but my attention span is quite short. I love to explore and will find just about anything I’m not supposed to, including a fairly large gopher snake in my back yard. I did the right thing though and just backed, backed, backed it up with a lot of barking. My foster mom found that fairly smart of me. However, I don’t always make the smartest decisions which sometimes comes with pup behavior. One of my personal challenges is the desire to tackle all of my canine brothers and sisters. Aside from my friend Mambo who is also a foster here, the other dogs don’t care for me too much. What’s that about? If you have a prospective family canine member that you are thinking of introducing me to, my foster mom suggests it be a friend that is 100% pup tolerant. I’m completely potty trained and know to do my business outside. I might slip up if I don’t get enough outside time but I have proven I know what to do when asked to go outside for potty breaks. I sleep excellent overnight in my crate as long as I’m in your room with you. This shows I am definitely all Lab and want only to stay close to you, my human. I’m crated regularly during the day to teach me to quiet down and relax. My prospective family should continue that crate training while I’m so young. I love children but please remember I do have sharp puppy teeth and still need to teethe. I love to take my walks with the big dogs. I’m perfecting my walk every day, have stopped pulling on the leash and the crazy 8 movements. My perfect prospective family will remember to socialize and exercise me regularly. Learning boundaries is important as I continue to mature. SCLRR will insist on a training and neuter deposit for me so please make sure you have considered this extra commitment. I am well worth it. Well, time to run off for one of my regular, but many naps. Just a friendly reminder that you must be an SCLRR approved family for me to be considered as part of your family. Please contact your family rep if you feel we should meet! Oh, don’t forget to check out my videos. I’m 20 lbs of pure Lab spunk and fun!
