Duchess's Story...
Hi, my name's Duchess! I'm a 13 year old chow mix, and I'm looking for a nice calm retirement home to spend my golden years in. My previous owner decided to move one day, and just left me behind in his home to fend for myself. Luckily the neighbors found me and made sure I was cared for. Now I'm here at the shelter, but what I'd really like is to be back in a home with someone who will love me. I'm up to date on shots, spayed, and have a microchip. I'm good with other dogs, but would do best in a home without cats.

Are you looking for an older, laid back dog? I'm your girl! The shelter is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 1-5, Tuesday and Thursday from 1-8, and Saturday from 10-2. Come visit me!

You can see some of our adoptable pets almost every Saturday at the Petsmart in Greensburg from noon to 6pm and some Sundays too. All adoption fees include spay/neuter and up-to-date vaccinations.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Duchess, a Youngwood Chow Chow dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chow Chow for sale in Youngwood, or seeking a Chow Chow dog from a breeder in Youngwood.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Youngwood already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Youngwood breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chow Chow breeders who help with Chow Chow rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Youngwood paves the way for another one to be saved.
