Iris's Story...
http://www.germanshepherdrescueindy.com/#!adoptive-females/ckiy

Iris is approximately 11 month old, female, GSD. She is currently 55 pounds. Her tail was injured while at a shelter and had to be amputated. Loosing her tail has not taken away any of her beauty. She has a sweetness that is unmatched. She is a natural herder and focuses on her surroundings with great intent. Iris is very intense around other dogs. She will bark and bite at the fence when another dog is on the opposite side of the outdoor dog run. For this reason, she would do best in a home as the only dog.

Iris appreciates affection and is very submissive. She could use further training on a leash as she pulls and weaves in front of handler. She is quite young and will need a home that expects to provide training and love for many years! Ideally, her family would have experience with the breed. Some type of fencing is required with a physical fence being preferred. No out of state adoptions.

Adoption Fee: $300 which includes Spay, Deworming, Bordetella, Distemper, HomeAgain Microchip, Heartworm Test, Heartworm preventative, and One-year Rabies Vaccination.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Iris, a Indianapolis German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Indianapolis, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Indianapolis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Indianapolis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Indianapolis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Indianapolis paves the way for another one to be saved.
