My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Vincent is such a lovebug...it's hard to picture him in a scary shelter in Texas. But it was sadly true and he was about to be euthanized for a lack of space in a continuously full and dismal facility. Farfel's Texas rescuer quickly stepped in. Vincent was scooped up and quickly carried away from his compromising life...we knew that we could help him get to safety and to a great permanent home in Colorado. It was completely understandable to us that Vincent was so frightened, yet relieved, that he couldn't do much more than snuggle against his rescuer. We're sure he understood that he was finally on his way to safety. At just about 8 months old and 21 lbs, Vlncent was young enough to quickly gather his strength and begin the process of leaving bad experiences behind.
Vincent is a gorgeous Cocker Spaniel and Dachshund mix (becoming a popular designer mix in puppy mills and with backyard breeders) with amazing long, wavy hair that carries strands of golds and cream that speak of his breed mix. It was difficult to cut off his golden waves..but the matts required a serious haircut. We couldn't help laughing at his silly and drastic haircut (we think he's embarrassed that he resembles a sheared lamb). But his hair will grow in full and healthy...returning him to his beautiful, golden self. Vincent was very fortunate to get chosen to leave the shelter and go to a new life in Colorado. It was his temperament and general engaging personality that drew attention to this loving guy. Vincent may appear shy at first, but he comes out of his shell with a bit of nurturing and grows to love and trust those that love him. Vincent is learning to play, quickly understanding that life can be so much fun. We envision Vincent in an active adult home or family with older kids who understand that Vincent is a smaller guy who needs respectful handling. He would be overjoyed to walk and play outside with his family. It would be great for Vincent to be in a home with a retiree or individual working out of the home so he would have the company that every dog cherishes. Vincent loves playing with other like-sized dogs, therefore a home with a companion dog would be just perfect! He enjoys exercise and has the ability to keep up along beautiful Colorado trails. He also isn't beyond hanging out on the couch on a lazy day or riding shotgun for errands or visits with friends. Vincent is still learning his skills and would love the socialization that will make him into a well-adjusted adult dog. His new Texas foster said, --We've never enjoyed a foster as much as we do Vincent. His little doggy smile lights up a room and he's just a love! Belly rubs and kind hugs make him so happy because he's had so little in his life. His new family will truly be getting a gem of a companion.
Vincent is a non-shedding (or very lightly shedding) guy and will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his gorgeous coat healthy and matt-free. . Vincent has been completely vetted and temperament tested to fulfill our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-adjusted pups.
Vincent is being fostered in Texas while awaiting his transport to Denver on 5/30. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and loving companion.
