My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sadie is a very pretty young girl. She is affectionate and playful and would love to be part of an active family. She is good with people of all ages and other dogs. She would love a backyard to play in. She loves to be with her people and enjoys lots of pets and cuddles. She is a young girl approximately 1.6 - 2 years old and currently weighs 46 lbs.

Here is what Sadie's foster family had to say:

Sadie is a loyal, loving companion who bonded quickly with her foster family. She loves to be pet and cuddled and enjoys being a part of the children's antics in the home. She has shown herself to be a smart girl and although she had no training when she arrived, she has picked up on things very quickly. She is fairly well behaved in the home and doesn't chew or get into anything she shouldn't. She enjoys playing with her toys, going for walks around the neighbourhood and hanging out with her family at home.

Sadie is fine with young children but can be a bit standoffish with some people until she has a chance to meet them. She will bark when someone comes to the door and sometimes when we are approached on the street but generally she is a pretty quiet dog. We have a very small dog in the home that she loves to follow around all the time which the other dog finds annoying. She would probably be best as an only dog or with another larger dog in the home that she could play with. I have not had her around cats but I would assume she would bug them to play as well and may well chase them as a fun game. She can get a little rambunctious (my children get her going) at times but settles easily when told. She loves to play with her toys and will bring her favourite toy to you and place it on your lap when she wants you to play with her.

Although Sadie did not have much in the way of training when she came to us, she is very smart and has picked up on things very quickly. She now knows her basic commands such as sit, wait, leave it, give kisses , settle and no. We have also taught her to shake a paw and to do "hi-fives". She is crate trained and will go in immediately when we say "kennel" and has no problems staying quiet in her crate however we don't crate her very often. I have her crate in my room for sleeping and put her in the crate when I go out which is only about 4 hours a couple times a week. She doesn't get into anything she shouldn't and plays nicely on her own with her toys. She especially enjoys chewing on her Kong. She doesn't beg for food and will go lie under the table or play with her toys while you are eating however, I suspect she would steal food if left unsupervised and within reach.

Sadie is fully house trained and is very good about letting us know when she needs to go out. She will alert me when she needs to go out by waiting by the door or coming and nudging me with her paw ( love it lol). She will bark if someone comes to the door and gets excited when you first come home but settles easily when asked. Generally speaking she is pretty quiet in the home.

Some loud noises effect her like thunder and large trucks, cars have been no issue. She does not like the school bus as when it approaches she wants to flee. The more we take her out and about however, the better she is becoming at being confident around these strange things.

Whomever adopts Sadie will be delighted and one lucky family. She is a lovely dog and with continued guidance and training she will be a great family pet. She is a very loving, caring girl who shows she is appreciative of having a warm safe home to live. Her eyes tell you everything she is feeling and thinking. She will be a loyal companion for one person or as a family pet.

If you think Sadie would be a good fit for your situation, please submit an application for consideration.
