My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

IDGSR WELCOMES KIVA INTO THE SAFETY OF THE RESCUE!!!!!

Kiva came to IDGSR via a high intake rural shelter, wearing a harness and outdated rabies tag, the volunteer to the local humane society tried to trace it but was unsuccessful, No One was Coming for Kiva. This gorgeous black and red Long Hair is just stunning but with that beauty comes a very high prey drive. She's had some training as well and that's why we are baffled, because this girl does multiple commands with gusto and pleasure. How could someone just let her go? We don't understand this and never will. When dealing with her straight out of the shelter, many dogs have what we call 'shelter shock', it's where they either are very shut down and depressed or the complete opposite, they are really wired up, wanting to go multiple directions, anywhere they can to flee their situation. Kiva was having the latter.

She's calmed down considerably but unfortunately as short of foster homes as we are, she has to be in boarding temporarily. Kiva has shown us that she would chase after small dogs, We think it in her best interest to be in a home with neither small dogs or cats but in a home with another large male dog, she's housed at the kennels with another male GS in the larger long run and hangs out with him just fine, playing and interacting.

She adores people, wants to love and be loved and snuggle you. She was fine with the 9 yr. old when we were there with her however we think smaller children could get knocked over due to her exuberance.

She is approx. 3-5 yrs. old best guestimate.

If you would like to make Kiva a member of your family please apple with this rescue by copying and pasting the link below.

also if you are using an Ipad or Iphone please save your work and attach to an email as it's not always compatible with Petfinder.
