Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Poppy is an adorable and lovable Shih Tzu looking for a loving guardian. Poppy is a six to eight-year-old, 17.2 pound white female Shih Tzu with tan markings. Poppy is a great walking and running partner. She’s energetic and playful; she loves to walk around with a stuffed animal in her mouth. Poppy can be a little barky when she first meets someone in her home environment; however out on walks and runs, she has the biggest smile and greeting for everyone she meets!
She curls up on the couch and sleeps most of the day, and enjoys sleeping in bed with you at night. She gives lovely kisses especially after her recent dental! Sadly her human has been suffering from cancer and hasn’t been able to care for her dogs for quite some time. Poppy previously lived with at least six other dogs. When I went to pick her up on May 12th, her hair was matted to the skin and soaked with urine. She has since been professionally groomed and her hair is growing back beautifully. She had been used for breeding, but is now spayed. Her breath was horrible, and Poppy had 13 teeth pulled. Did you know dogs start out with 42 teeth, and humans only have 32 - if you include wisdom teeth?
Her adoption fee of $300 will help defray the cost of her vetting which, as you can imagine, was substantial. She is now beautifully groomed, spayed, up-to-date on rabies, distemper and bordatella vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on monthly preventative. To meet and possibly adopt Poppy, please contact me directly at sheri@petraits.com or 773-777-2891. She has temporarily joined my family and is living in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood.
