My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

located in SAC in a shelter needs home or long term foster by SUN or will be dead
he's not doing well at shelter he's scared so growls at some people
there's a sheet of paper from the owner that says a lot about Chewy
sounds like he was a good fun dog for them but only living outdoors and never confined he does not do well neither would I
Would You?

email us if you can help

Chewy looks like a Lab/Bloodhound mix to me we know Lab certainly but think some Bloodhound in him too

He can only be adopted out through a rescue
we're willing to do so to right screened forever home
we have no place for him nor any others but trying to help safe his life

We cannot make it completely free but will charge $25 adoption fee to screened matching home

Can be transported as far as 2 hours circumfence from SAC to right approved family

Chewy was surrendered because the owner was admitted to the hospital and is no longer able to care for him. The son of the owner brought Chewy in after spending a lot of time and effort trying to find a new home for him. He had a lot to write about Chewy as well. To begin, Chewy was adopted from a friend of the owner about 6-7 years ago. He is not house trained, but he is crate trained and slept in a crate in the garage at night and spent his days outside. His favorite activities are playing, chasing, catching, chewing his toys, and he loves night time in his crate. He knows, "sit," "down," "stay," "come," "wait," "lay down," and "spin." He has lived with another dog and can be dominant, but respectful. He barks a lot when he is excited or nervous, loves water/ swimming and chases cats. It was also noted that Chewy has a very bold personality and loves to be the center of attention and that he is abnormally smart and has loads of energy.

He weighs around 75 pounds once unstressed from shelter life he will most likely gain another few pounds

His family wrote that he responds best to a dominant, firm, but kind and gentle natured owner. He deserves someone that will be clear with what is expected of him as he is very eager to please. The owner had previously kenneled Chewy and it was stressful for him. Unfortunately, we are seeing at the shelter that in fact Chewy does not kennel well so he is not up for adoption through us but through any willing rescue
He is a wonderful dog for the right owner with space to run fun and active and very handsome young at heart as w well

I hope someone gives him a chance

dog experienced folks, references, pictures of home, $25 adoption fee
